Design, development and education about manufacturing of spiral bevel gears.

This web site presents new concepts in design and manufacturing of large spiral bevel gears and other gears for minerals processing equipment such as cone crushers, for oil drilling rigs, marine thrusters, rotary tables, and for other applications.


Direct Digital Simulation method has been used since 1980. We adopted the method for practical use for different gear applications: worm face gears, spiral bevel gears, variable ratio rack and pinion, crown face gears, globoid gear, hyperbolic gear and other design concepts.
While the new method has been already used in 1986 at MIL Helicopter in Moscow, and later at General Motors and then at Volvo, the first public presentation has happened in Japan in 2002. (Stepan V. Lunin ”New method of gear geometry calculation” International Congress on Gears, Fukuoka, Japan, 2002). Then method have been published in a book (V.I. Goldfarb, S.V. Lunin, E.S. Trubchev. “Direct Digital Simulations for Gears” Volume 1, Izhevsk 2004, ISBN 5-7526-0196-7) and in engineering magazines (Stepan V. Lunin, “Direct Digital Simulation Modeling” Gear Solutions magazine, May 2004, pages 32-38)

 


 
In 2003, in Chicago, Prof. Goldfarb and Dr. Lunin continued publications of the new method ( Goldfarb, Lunin, Trubachev. “Advanced computer modeling technique in gear engineering” 2003 ASME Design Engineering Technical Conferences. September 2-6, 2003, Chicago, Illinois). The presentation in Chicago contained numerous CAD models and computer simulations including simulations of spiral bevel gear cutting. In 2004 Prof. Goldfarb, Dr. Trubachev, and Dr. Lunin continued advertisement of the new methods in gear design and gear manufacturing. ZAKGEAR also provides paid services for complex gear design and manufacturing.
      We have extended expertise in manufacturing of spiral bevel gears and we partner with Spiral Bevel Co. variable ratio rack, worm face gears, worm gears, Globoidal gear, and spiral bevel gears.
       Spiral Bevel Co is using well advanced Direct Digital Simulation (DDS) modeling method for manufacturing of spiral bevel gears. With help of DDS software for spiral bevel gears, Spiral Bevel Co is  producing high accuracy bevel gears with higher quality. The critical 3-dimensional tooth geometry is calculated on special spiral bevel software and then the gear design is examined on the Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA) software.
     TCA is traditionally very critical for the final quality inspection of spiral bevel gears. Because we use the new method for gear design and for gear manufacturing we also use new methods for spiral bevel gear tooth contact simulation.  Our spiral bevel gear tooth contact simulation software allows testing the gears before the gears are machined.
     We also inspect the existing gears and correct the tooth contact. We make replacement spiral bevel gears that run quieter and longer with the existing gears because of the corrections of the tooth contact.
    Spiral Bevel Co manufactures replacement spiral bevel gears and pinions that can mesh correctly with the existing gears.

 Optimization of worm gear design based on manufacturing and design parameters.
ZakGear web presence has been established in 1997 with a goal to promote novel ideas in spiral bevel gear design and spiral bevel gear manufacturing. Spiral bevel gears have been our highest area of expertise since 1986. We have invented and developed an advanced mathematical tool for spiral bevel gear design and manufacturing. With Spiral Bevel Co we design and manufacture large spiral bevel gears for marine, oil, wind power, construction and mineral processing industries.
     We use unique design and manufacturing methods that allow us to provide higher quality spiral bevel gears. Out gears usually can transmit higher torque, quieter in operation and have longer life.
     We can also manufacture globoid, worm, worm face, hyperbolic, and other gears. We are experts in design and manufacturing of variable ratio racks.     
     In manufacturing of spiral bevel gears we use modern gear technology for validation of the tooth contact. Before manufacturing of spiral bevel gears we study the contact pattern and correct design in order to allow gears to have some level of misalignment or run-out.
