We help developing novel methods of gear design and manufacturing.

In 1980 Dr. Stepan V. Lunin has discovered practical advantages of using digital methods for solving difficult design and manufacturing problems of spiral bevel gears. Dr. Lunin called the method Direct Digital Simulation for gears. The new method has key advantages versus traditional gear theory and it has been successfully used since 1980 for different applications including manufacturing of spiral bevel gears for mining, marine, aerospace, automotive and for other allications.
Today, Spiral Bevel Co is offering design and manufacturing of large spiral bevel gears for cone crushers (rock crushers), oil drill rotary tables, wind generators and for other applications. While designing of a large spiral bevel gear it is critical to optimize all the parameters of the gear on a computer model before producing the real gear. Large spiral bevel gears are expensive to manufacture due to limited availability of the gear cutting machines. There are just 6 gear cutting machines in the US that can produce spiral bevel gears larger than 50" in diameter. Three 100-inch Gleason machines and two 80-inch Klingelnberg machines are located in Illinois and belong to two companies. One large 675 Gleason 100-inch machines is in operation in Texas. In avarage each of the six available machines are capable to produce one gear set a week each.
With help of our mathematical algorithms we optimise the gear cutting method in order to increase productivity of our gear cutting machines. Our software allows to increase repeatability of the cutting process and reduce the cost of the finished gears.
Gears are becoming more popular in aerospace. High Lift System, weapon bay door and cargo door actuators, primary flight controls are more cost effective if made as geared electromechanical actuators.
Consulting on innovative gear design. Prototyping and manufacturing. Our hyperbolic worm gear can increase driving efficiency for 8% compare to a regular worm gear. Large industrial applications.
